A Record Of Success

Since 2005, the GMAT Guru has helped over 85 of his clients score at or above 700 on the GMAT, a record
unrivaled by any other private tutor in the Bay Area. Many of these 700+ scorers had already tried and failed with
other classes and $300/hr tutors.

Some of my phenomenal clients are listed here. Others prefer to keep their privacy. If you would like to be the

Crowan is the best tutor in the Bay Area hands down. Before discovering him, I took the Kaplan class,
studied from Manhattan GMAT and Princeton Review materials and even hired 3 other private tutors,
including some very expensive ones. None of these materials helped; I could not get above a 670.

By attending a mix of GMAT Guru lectures and private tutoring sessions, however, I was finally able to make
the breakthrough I needed. My verbal score, which was my weakness, went from 72% to 90% and my
overall score improved to
710, despite having an off day on the math section.

The big difference between Crowan and other classes/tutors is that, in the verbal section, he teaches you
how to eliminate wrong answers instead of trying to find the right one, a technique that is incredibly
powerful. Even in the math section, in which I already felt quite comfortable, Crowan introduced me to new
methodologies that I found nowhere else. In all respects, he is an amazing instructor and I am happy to be
a reference for him. Please ask Crowan to put you in touch with me if you would like my perspective on all
the Bay Area GMAT lasses and instructors.
When I started with Crowan, I didn't know anything about the GMAT. I quickly found out that my style of his
GMAT Guru Methods for Problem Solving and Data Sufficiency and before I knew it, I was fast-tracking to a
49(90th%) on the quantitative section.

I had accepted that the verbal section would be my weakness, but Crowan convinced me that I could score
well if I approached the verbal section with the same analytical rigor with which I approached the
quantitative section. His small group lectures were very helpful as they allowed me to engage in
discussions with other students with the same capabilities as me.  During the lectures, I was not only able
to understand my own mistakes, but I also got a new perspective on the common mistakes of my peers. In
the end, I scored a verbal 45(99th%), bringing my overall score up to 760.  I highly recommend Crowan for
your GMAT tutoring needs.

Crowan is one of the best teachers I've ever had, regardless of subject. When I began Crowan's class, I
took an initial practice test and scored in the low 500's. I was really surprised and disappointed by my
initial score because none of the material in the GMAT is particularly advanced. That is exactly the trick to
taking the GMAT! It's not the subject matter that's important, it's learning HOW to take the test that's
important.

To excel in the GMAT, you need to learn how the test writers think and what type of answers they're looking
for. This is exactly what Crowan will teach you. Listen to Crowan, practice, and you'll do
well.

When I first prepared for the GMAT, I spent over $1,300 on an "elite" GMAT course and scored 640. After
attending a mix of Crowan’s private tutoring and lectures, I was able to boost this score to
780 (90th
percentile in math and 99th percentile in verbal.) Crowan really helped me to understand where I was
making math and verbal mistakes, and to reduce the number of errors I was making.  It really paid off in my
score.

If you want to achieve your best on the GMAT, go to the Guru!

After taking a competing GMAT class, my math score did not significantly improve and was in the
borderline range for top schools. Crowan's emphasis on diagnostic testing and his focused review
assignments allowed me to improve my math score at least twenty percentile points. On test day, I was
more aware of my strengths and weaknesses and more strategic in my approach Crowan’s program paid
off: I scored
760 (Math 95%, Verbal 96%)

The first time I took the GMAT, I studied on my own using the GMAT official guide, Princeton Review, and
Kaplan books. When I took the actual test, I did a horrible job timing myself, barely finishing both sections
and scoring a 610.

I realized I needed more help and thankfully, I found Crowan. He does a wonderful job explaining
everything you need to know about the GMAT. During lectures, he never looks at his notes, and he can
come up with many relevant examples right on the spot. He tells you why you should use certain strategies
to answer certain questions and why certain answer choices are right or wrong. While all of his lectures
were excellent, I want to highlight his Advanced Quantitative lecture as particularly useful; it was more
thorough in its explanation of complex probability problems than any other GMAT guide (Princeton, Kaplan,
OG, you name it). By sticking to Crowan’s “Guru” strategies, I completed all the questions with speed and
confidence, improving my score to
740 (95% Q/91% V).

I scored a 730 on the GMAT thanks in large part to Crowan. While the courses are very comprehensive and
well structured, the real value comes from the teaching.  Crowan always explained strategy tips and
concepts clearly, demonstrating several years of teaching experience.  He was able to adapt the course
lectures to meet the specific needs of our group, often offering extra time to review specific questions
people brought to class.

On several occasions Crowan exceeded my expectations by providing key insights that helped me on the
test.  For example, without his time saving and pacing techniques, I wouldn’t have finished the test.
Additionally, Crowan is well studied in probability, permutations, and combinations, topics that were
significantly tested on my GMAT. My 3rd question on the GMAT tested probability concepts!  I was so
relieved to have reviewed these problems with Crowan well before test day.

After taking the GMAT, I applied for MBA programs and this fall will be heading to the University of Chicago
GSB.

Crowan’s lucid posting and his 790 score attracted my attention. After speaking with him for only a few
minutes, I could tell he was a very disciplined and structured professional.  He was more than happy to
refer me to his previous clients. I only needed to talk to a couple of them before I was ready to sign up.

The best thing about Crowan is that he explains the ‘why’s rather than the ‘how’s. Once you understand
and start seeing the way he thinks, the GMAT no longer seems so daunting. Crowan would dissect and
point out the mistakes in my approach. After eight sessions with Crowan, I scored a
720 on the GMAT - a
70 point improvement over my previous score. Such an improvement would never have been possible
without Crowan’s unparalleled GMAT expertise.

The first time I took the GMAT, I scored 97th percentile Verbal, but a dismal 39th percentile Quantitative.  My
overall score of 640 was no where near what I needed to get into the top programs.

I needed help, so I met with Crowan for my initial Math tutoring session.  He did an in-depth diagnostic,
identified my weaknesses, and created an action plan to take me to the next level.

After a few meetings, I re-took the GMAT and this time my math score was much better.  I went from the
39th percentile to the 70th.   As a result, my overall score improved 80 points to
720 (96th percentile).
Obviously, my time with Crowan paid off and I am a much more competitive candidate for MBA programs.

After going through various GMAT books on my own and taking the exam couple of times, I couldn't get the
score I wanted. The verbal section was my main obstacle. I contacted Crowan for help in ending my GMAT
nightmare. After a few months of private tutoring and lectures, I scored
720!

I strongly believe that you need a customized approach in addressing your weaknesses in GMAT. Crowan
will not only focus on those weaknesses but also help you improve your strengths.

Kaplan course, bought several study aids and studied diligently for months before scoring a disappointing
600. I scored well on the quantitative section but just couldn’t conquer the verbal. With Crowan’s help,
however, I was able to score a
720 (86% Q/95% V)!

After only a short time working with Crowan, I completely changed my approach to the verbal section. His
methods are not about teaching you quick tricks like a Kaplan course does. Rather, he teaches you the way
the GMAT test makers think, showing you exactly what makes each answer right or wrong.

I couldn’t have done it without Crowan!  I managed to score a 710 (a 100+ point improvement from my first
diagnostic test) despite having a very hectic work schedule and little time to study.

Combining lectures and private tutoring was a perfect way to keep me on track with my GMAT preparation.  I
attended only the lectures I needed: No waste of time, money, or energy.  In private tutoring sessions,
Crowan pin-pointed how and why I was getting questions wrong.  He taught me how to think so that I would
not make the same mistakes again.  Crowan was an excellent teacher and was very committed to helping
me do my best. You won’t be able to get better personal attention from any other prep service.  Go to the
GMAT Guru!  You won’t regret it!
